PlaceStoriesTM is a map-based digital storytelling software system being developed by Feral Arts. The software is being used in projects across each of or portfolios.
PlaceStories is a system for managing digital media, creating lightweight digital stories and publishing to the internet. The software uses digital maps to interface the online database of published stories and projects.
The PlaceStories system has two main parts. The first part is windows software program that installs on a standard PC for users to gather and manage digital content (photos, graphics, text, audio) and create digital stories. The emphasis with PlaceStories software is on accessibility, simplicity and on local ownership and control of the work produced. It is especially geared to quickly and easily creating and sharing stories about places, people, lives and histories. The second part of the PlaceStories system is the web server and database. This enables users to create projects, communicate and collaborate with other users and to publish their work through online communities.
